This oak-framed garage in Compton was a modest project delivered with a thoughtful approach.

The site sat beneath protected trees, so the foundations were designed to avoid disturbing the root zone, allowing the building to settle into place without impacting the surrounding landscape. Externally, the structure was designed to sit comfortably alongside the neighbouring properties – understated, well-proportioned and aligned with the local vernacular. But inside, the character steps forward. The exposed oak frame, hand-finished joinery and traditional detailing reveal the true craft behind the build, giving the interior a warmth and presence that feels far more expressive than its modest footprint suggests.

      The result is a small building with quiet charm on the outside and a showcase of traditional craftsmanship within – a simple structure elevated by care, skill and attention to detail.
