This much-loved six-bedroom home had been lived in by the same family for over twenty years.

Although full of character, the layout had gradually become disjointed and no longer supported modern family life. A complete rethinking of the interior was needed – both structurally and spatially.

Working closely with the clients and their team, we stripped the house back to its shell, carrying out extensive repairs before re-planning the internal layout. The new arrangement creates light-filled, well-connected spaces that feel calm, practical and suited to everyday living, while still retaining the charm of the original home.

One of the defining interventions was the replacement of two separate staircases with a single sculptural central stair. This required significant structural work, but the result brings unity, presence and a sense of arrival to the heart of the home.

The completed project is a thoughtful renewal – a familiar home re-imagined for the way the family now lives, combining elegant design with quiet, dependable construction that will serve them well for years to come.
